The Open Hand
The Open Hand
The Weight of Beautiful Things — Chapter 2 of 4
Head thrown back. Arms opening. Above her, a white bird ascending. She is not falling. She is ascending. The white-knuckled grip on control was the very architecture preventing her from rising. The open hand is the wing configuration of something about to fly.
“She is not falling. She is ascending.”
